Tiger Roll Appears at Ward Union Open Day
Following the recent well-publicised knackery dispute, the Ward Union Hunt Club had an Open Day to promote its services. The event was a huge success with over 1,500 people visiting the kennels at Greenpark, Dunshaughlin on the day to look at how the knackery operates.
The knackery headed up by Pat Coyle, is an integral part of the Hunt Club’s activities. It covers farmers and clients in north County Dublin, all of Meath, as well as a little bit of south County Louth (near Drogheda) and north Kildare. The knackery disposes of over 5,000 animals per year in a very professional and humane manner.
On the day, in addition to a presentation on the knackery there was a Health & Safety presentation and a tour of the deer park.
However, the two highlights of the day were definitely the dual Grand National winner Tiger Roll making an appearance to the eagerly awaiting crowd. He was led up by his groom Louise Magee and Ward Union member Keith Donoghue who has also ridden him to two Cheltenham wins and the children’s. There was also a children’s Hunting Horn competition which was judged by Pat Coyle and provided great entertainment for the visitors attending.
